5 Biggest Weight Loss Myths Revealed
Posted by Simple Promise on
Let’s face it, there’s a lot of misinformation out there about what it really takes to keep a slim, sexy figure. In fact, following bad weight loss advice can actually cause you to gain extra pounds instead of losing them, or keeping them off.
But we’re going to set the record straight right here, because we want you to succeed and be healthy. So, we’re breaking down the 5 biggest weight loss myths that people tend to get caught up in… so it never happens to you!
Here they are…
Myth #1: Eating Fat Makes You Fat
Wrong! Did you know we actually need fat to survive? It’s actually a great energy source. But the reason why fat gets such a bad rep is because it can accumulate on our bodies. But that’s only when we take in too many calories and don’t burn enough.
So, eat fat. Enjoy it. Just make sure you stick to mostly healthy, non-saturated fats like olive oil and nuts.
Myth #2: Eating At Night Makes You Gain Weight
No. It all comes down to how much you’re eating… not when. The reason for this myth is because many people tend to eat bad “desserty” foods late at night. But if you stick to something healthy, you can eat whenever
you want!
Myth #3: You MUST Eat Breakfast To Lose Weight
The most important meal of the day, right? So they say… but there’s really no science behind why you should eat breakfast. You should eat whenever you’re hungry. Listen to your body. If you’re not hungry in the morning, then why does it matter whether or not you eat a bagel, or egg or even a bowl of oatmeal?
Here’s a hint: It doesn’t matter. Eat breakfast… don’t eat breakfast. Just stick to a healthy calorie intake and you’ll be fine.
Myth #4: Foods That Taste Good Are Bad For You
Clearly, whoever developed this myth has never tried a veggie pizza. There are TONS of foods that are good… and good FOR you. Who doesn’t like watermelon? Or a Granny Smith apple with organic peanut butter? It all comes down to making sensible choices. Obviously, highly processed foods that taste good, aren’t good for you.
But you can probably look in your fridge or pantry right now and find plenty of healthy foods that are just
simply delicious.
Myth #5: You Should Never Snack
This one is just silly. If you’re having one of those days where you’re constantly on the go, you probably SHOULD have a snack. You’re burning extra calories and your body needs the energy. There’s nothing wrong with grabbing a handful of almonds, an orange or even a protein bar.
The only time snacking does become a problem is when it’s done in excess… especially when going for a bag of chips or candy bar. Keep those to a minimum.
Hopefully, this helped bust some of those myths that usually cause more harm than good for people who are trying to keep a slim figure. As always, it comes down to making reasonable food choices.
Feel free to share this blog to any of your friends and family that would gain from this. It may be something they’ve been looking for!
