5 Weird Things That Help You Poop

Constipation can be extremely frustrating and uncomfortable. Luckily, there are some tricks you can use to make it easier to poop. So the next time you need a quick fix, try one of these tips:

#1: Garlic

Vampires hate garlic. And so does your poop. Garlic contains fructans, which are fermented by the gut and can cause bowel movements. So if you’re struggling with constipation, add garlic to your cooking as it can help you become regular. PLUS! Research shows that garlic can also lower blood pressure, and reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke.

#2: Sugar-Free Candy

Always keep fresh mint handy for a night out. Not only will it keep your mouth smelling fresh, it can also help you pass stool. Just make sure your candy is sugar-free, and contains things like Xylitol that have constipation-relieving effects.

#3: Yoga

Try the "wind-relieving pose". This yoga move can help you ease bowel movement and help you pass stool. AND, it’s so easy to do, new mothers use this trick to help their babies pass gas. Just lie down and bring one knee to your chest. Then swap legs. If you feel like passing gas, do it. That means it’s working ;)

#4: Perineum Massage

If you recently gave birth, you may have heard of this massage. It's a technique where you massage your perineum (the area between your vagine and anus). It can ease constipation because there are pressure points contained in that area. I know this sounds weird, but give it a try. You might be surprised!

#5: Belly Rub

If massaging your private parts is something you don’t want to do, then you can try this 'colonic' massage. Rubbing your bowels in a clockwise direction can help move your bowels. Use gentle pressure and move it along the horseshoe shape of the colon.

So if you’re struggling with constipation, skip the OTC medications… and try one of 5 of these hacks to help you poop.
